Press Report 12th September 2021
The weekend was a culmination of a long journey for Andrew Essex in reaching the County Unbadged Singles final at Bracknell B C coming up against a tough opponent in Colin Carson from the Royal Household and it proved to be one step too far as he went down 21 – 17.
It was a fabulous game to watch and well supported from Desborough and too close to call for much of the match. Well played Andrew.
During the week Desborough welcomed local rivals from Maidenhead Town to Green Lane for the 2nd leg of the Hot Dog Trophy holding a 21 shot cushion from the first encounter. Although the six rinks were shared, with the benefit of the shot cushion from the 1st leg and sterling performances from the rinks skipped by Mark Peachey (once again!!), Mark Essex and Bruce Adams led Desborough to claim the title with ease. Desborough look forward to the renewal in 2022.
Desborough held their End of Season Bash on Saturday which was a combination of bowls followed by a barbecue. The rinks skipped by Andrew Essex and Michael Hobson ended up on equal scores but on countback it was declared that Andrew, Val Wyatt and Peter Braddock were the winners. However on an occasion the result doesn’t matter as the real winner was the game of bowls and everyone enjoyed the food along with the convivial atmosphere.
